DESCRIPTION: An old genre of Lego stop motions I used to enjoy watching when I was growing up were ones centered around zombies, and more often than not someone fighting through hordes of them. After learning how to make stop motions similar to those Lego animations, I began working on Omegadrive City only to be burnt out midway through production. This was when I started animating Lego Zombie Escape as a less story focused, more action oriented palette cleanser that wasn’t as taxing when it came to set design or plot. This is why many of the set pieces of Lego Zombie Escape are largely identical when it comes to architecture, as I wanted to draw more attention to the escalating action of the short than the scenery of the setting.

Omegadrive City: Built or Broken

TITLE: Omegadrive City: Built Or Broken (Lego Cyberpunk Stop Motion)

DESCRIPTION: One type of aesthetic/genre I have a deep passion for is Cyberpunk, that being a heavily futuristic yet modern setting with oppressive, dystopian undertones. I particularly like the style that these worlds are rendered in, whether that’s games like Cyberpunk 2077 or Bladerunner 2049, which is what inspired my fictional setting known as “Omegadrive City”. Built Or Broken is meant to be an introduction to the city and its many characteristics, such as the many ‘sub-levels’ and the wasteland just beyond the city borders. It also gave me a chance to play around with a lot of the environment’s design and how the various figures/characters interact with the world around them, which leads to an animated world with quite a bit of depth to it.
